Grievance Complaints

PLEASE NOTE: COMPLAINTS AGAINST ATTORNEYS AND/OR JUDGES MUST BE

SUBMITTED IN THE COUNTY IN WHICH THEY

MAINTAIN THEIR OFFICE.

The function of the Certified Grievance Committee of the Lake County Bar Association is to investigate allegations of attorney misconduct to determine whether or not the attorney has violated a provision of the Code of Professional Responsibility. If the Committee finds probable cause to believe that a violation of the Code has occurred, then the Committee shall proceed with disciplinary action. Disciplinary action involves an attorney’s license or right to practice law in Ohio. The Committee does not have the ability to recover monies or to represent you in court.

The Committee cannot give legal advice or provide legal representation for you. The Committee cannot recover or collect monies on your behalf. The sole function of the Committee is to conduct a disciplinary investigation.

The Supreme Court Rules also provide that all investigations undertaken by the Committee are private and confidential. This confidentiality provision also applies to the party making allegations of misconduct.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THE COMPLAINT YOU ARE FILING IS AGAINST AN ATTORNEY AND/OR JUDGE WHO MAINTAINS AN OFFICE IN LAKE COUNTY.

Should you wish to pursue a formal grievance, you must complete, sign and return the attached Complaint Form in duplicate. Please include copies of any documents that you feel are necessary to support your grievance, also in duplicate. Do not send original documents.
